Place light surfaces deliberately.
A light main wall and curtain can soften contrast with dark existing furniture. Check samples on the wall farthest from the window as well. A screen cannot reliably predict that situation.
A dark accent is an option.
Deep green or blue can emphasize one surface. It does not automatically make the room bigger or smaller. Compare light and accent-led options with the same furniture before deciding.
